Introducing the Tampa Bay Surge Women’s Ice Hockey Organization
Get ready to feel the Surge! The Tampa Bay Surge is a dynamic and fast-growing women’s ice hockey organization rooted in the heart of the Tampa Bay area and stretching across the Southeastern U.S. Our mission? To grow the women’s game throughout Florida and the Southeast while fostering a vibrant community of players united by their passion for hockey.
Our Journey So Far
The Surge hit the ice for the first time in October 2023, competing in the C Division of the Estero tournament for the Florida Women’s Hockey League (FWHL). Since that debut, we’ve been on an unstoppable path of growth. Our organization now features multiple competitive squads, including: Women’s B Division team, Developing second B and/or C Division team, and our brand-new Rec Team, which made its debut earlier this year in Lake Worth.
We’re proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about where we’re headed!
Who We Are
The Surge is a powerhouse of diversity and talent. Our roster includes players from all walks of hockey life:
• Beer league warriors
• Former collegiate athletes (Club, D3, and D1)
• Veterans from women’s AAA, A, B, and C travel teams across the U.S. and Canada
No matter your background, skill level, or hockey story, if you share our passion, there’s a place for you in the Surge family.
What We Love
We’re not just about the game—we’re about the experience. Whether it’s battling on the ice or bonding off it, we believe in creating unforgettable moments. Alongside local tournaments, we’ve embraced the thrill of travel. This past June, we teamed up with Southern Thunder and Nashville locals for the Honky Tonk Showdown—an incredible tournament that brought fierce competition and unforgettable memories. We’re already counting down the days until we hit Nashville again next year!
